Greetings from Bunni via Bakerina
Dear friends of Bunni,

Our lovely hostess with the mostest has finished dancing and lived to tell the tale! Unfortunately, this afternoon she discovered she has exceeded her allotment of audioposts, and thus we are unable to hear her words in her own lovely voice. Thus did she ask me to let you know that she will Tell All as soon as she returns to the city. In the meantime, here are the highlights of the weekend:

  • She placed first in one more competition and second in another. (Can I get a Woot! from the audience, please?)
  • Unfortunately, there were a few other events in which she didn't place quite as highly. The good news, though, is that she still is moving well and her feet are fine. Considering that two weeks ago, we were afraid she'd have to go into hospital again due to problems with her foot, this is nothing short of splendid news.
  • Confidential to Mr. Monkey: Bunni says she could not have got through the weekend without the stash of Typhoo she has been carrying around in her purse. In fact, she'd had a cuppa right before calling me, which explains why she sounded so cheerful. :)
  • I feel totally sheepish posting this, as it seems so, well, unseemly, but it's Bunni's blog, Bunni's rules..."Everything I ever needed to learn in this life, I learned from the Bakerina," says she. It's not true, by a long shot, but I *did* introduce her to the aromatherapeutic powerhouse that is Lush. In addition to strong British tea, she has also been fortified by Flying Fox shower gel and a Fever massage bar; as a result, she has the best-smelling hotel room in the world. Tonight she is going to bathe with an Elixir bath melt, which is full of blue glitter, which will go nicely with the blue sequin dress she will be wearing to dinner. As she put it on the phone, "if I can't look like the lovechild of Liberace and a Smurf tonight, when can I?" Indeed.
  • Considering that the last few weeks have been very tough for her, imagine how glad I was to hear her say, and I quote, "Last night was one of *the* best nights of my life. " We tend to be blindsided by the worst that can happen, but occasionally we can be blindsided by the best, too. She said that she did not have high plans for the night, that she felt tired and depressed and inclined to hit the hay early, but one of the dancers was celebrating his birthday, so she joined the party and ended up having a brilliant time, drinking, playing 80's music and dancing on the couches with her fellow dancers. She told me she never thought she would ever find herself up on a couch in a hotel bar in New Jersey dancing to '80's music, which just proves to me that every once in a while, life is really a miraculous thing.
